SHAMELESS BONUS POST

What is the saying?

It takes a village to raise an idiot? One idiot can ruin the village? One idiot can raise a village?

I am the idiot and ALL of you are the village. A few years ago, if you told me that I would appear live on stage without middle school band kids in front of me, or a set of drums, or both, I would have said ‘no thank you’, but I’ve managed to mix a bit of life experience, stand-up comedy (while sitting down) and some advice as I have aged on our planet.

All of you have helped and supported me and it has not gone unnoticed. If you find yourself with a few moments, HERE is a link to my Grand Rounds talk that I presented to doctors, residents, and other people who were trapped in the room at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in November.

My message to everyone is that human health should not be viewed as a market for profit, but as a comprehensive priority undertaken by the human race. I am only alive because of my vast support network and people who know people and were able to take action immediately.

Of course I am grateful, but it shouldn’t be like this. Do something kind for someone today, support people who are in need of food, shelter, and clothing and not just because it’s the holidays.

We are all in the boat. Imagine the overwhelming good if we all row in the same direction even for a few strokes.

I would love to bring my Grand Rounds talk to a hospital near you. Let’s spread the good vibes.

  1. Thanks Pat for making it real for the group at Nationwide Children’s. I would love for you to travel all the way to Lowell, MA and do a similar presentation for the docs at Lowell General. Ben would have died there had Dr. Hill not advocated for him and if my daughter or I weren’t with him every minute of his 9 day ICU stay.
